02 23 Choose Healthy Fast Foods.

Posted in Daily Tips

In our fast-paced world, it is easy to fall into the “fast food trap”. Recent study had 18 healthy adults cut back their exercise and eat 2 fast food meals a day, and after just one week, half of the group began experiencing elevated levels of ALT enzymes-a common indicator of liver damage. By the end of the study, the entire group had gained an average of 14 pounds. The conclusion? Our bodies just aren’t made to handle more than the occasional indulgence in fast foods.

In the 90 Day Challenge I hold with some of my clients, we find this statistic horrifying. A local doc has had a fast food burger and some nuggets on a counter for 18 months and disgustingly, they look almost the same as Day 1–except the nuggets are a little hollowed out. Ewwwwww!

This has been the best change for my life as I am learning not only what not to eat, but why I should change my eating habits for a longer healthier life. I can tell the difference. It is not a “fad” or extreme diet, it is a well balanced plan for eating what I need to keep my weight in check and live a healthy active life. We have not gone with the Medifast products, but just purchase the right foods to eliminate the foods that have encouraged us to eat more than we need. Great plan!”
