Healthy Habits
02 05 Take a Healthy Vacation
Stay fit on vacation by signing up for a walking trip, such as those offered by the Smithsonian Institution, or entering a walking or running event for charity in a fun location. What better way to keep yourself healthy and do something great for others in need!
02 04 Don’t Forget to Disconnect!
Whether you’re a high-earning executive or working from home, be sure to unplug from work and make time for yourself. Turn off the phone, power down the Blackberry, shut off the computer, and relax.
02 03 Stop, Challenge, and Choose
When faced with a stressful situation, stop (pause before you respond), challenge (are you reacting logically or out of emotion?), and choose (what outcome do you really want?)
01 07 The Dreaded New Year Resolution
This year is just beginning and with it comes the “dreaded new year’s resolutions.” They are usually dreaded because people decide to cut out something in their life that they have enjoyed doing for possibly years, but know deep in their hearts that they need to stop…like smoking or drinking, or over eating.
So, have you thought about what your resolution may be this year? Did you know that the average weight gain during the Holiday season (Thanksgiving and Christmas/Hanukah) is 5-8 pounds?
If you are not sure what to do, you might think about making a resolution that will support your commitment to improve your health…
- Choose a time tested, physician recommended weight loss programs. Stay away from the newest “fad” diet.
- Choose some form of exercise daily that lasts at least 20 minutes: Yoga, Pilates, swimming, walking, treadmill, or going to the gym.
- Drink more water.
- Give up smoking, drinking, and caffeine.
- Start every morning with your goal for the day
- To be a coach for others wanting to get healthy
- Start a journal of your life
- Go to bed an hour earlier
- Read a positive/self motivating book per week
- Get rid of all negative thoughts!!!! “Divorce” your negative friends. Be a positive, happy person!
12 05 Prepare for Tomorrow, Sleep Easy Tonight!
Put your mind to rest before bed by making a to-do list of tasks and priorities for the next day. You’ll go to sleep confident that you won’t forget something important once your busy day gets going (or wake up in the night worry about it). Just be sure to make up your list early enough in the evening so you’re not thinking about tomorrow’s concerns right before bed.
